New Orleans After Dark


One of my favorite things about being a photographer is being a part of people's lives in an irreplaceable way. Take Tyler and Olivia. I have known Tyler for the better part of 15 years. With us both being into the automotive hobby in New Orleans, it was only a matter of time before we would have met. Once we did, I knew he would be a lifelong friend. Well, jump too him and Olivia becoming engaged; I was overjoyed when he asked me to photograph their engagement photos.


Both Tyler and Olivia are very style-oriented people. ( Walk into their home, and it's obvious pretty quickly). But I knew when it came to outfit choices they would not disappoint. Both wearing vintage pieces, they looked flawless together. With the style choices, the New Orleans French Quarter was a natural fit for our location.


One of the best parts of shooting in the Quarter is that around the corner, there is always a new color, texture, and vibe. So nothing ever looks the same.


Once we started shooting, though, I knew we'd be making some lasting photos. Tyler told me the vision and what they were looking for, and all I could say was "Say less". Some couples need a little guidance, but that wasn't the case here. I pretty much just followed them while we walked.




My favorite part was when we passed a Rouses Grocery store, and I suggested we go inside. Not really a place youd think would be good for photos but I think they are some of my favorite from the night.

As we continued, we ended up right on Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. Allowing us to grab a few photos with the streetcars.

As we finished up, we found our way to the Steps of the federal courthouse across the street from the Omni Royal Hotel.
